In addition to the nieuwe koek residency a research project was set up to explore the old fodder cake factory and its culinary undergrounds. Through this research we created an gesamtkunstwerk which resulted in the Mad Cow performance night. The visitors where lead though the factory along several performance and art pieces.
I found out that one of the things I missed the most in the space was the lack of wheat and its distinct smell, so I brought that back in and covered the floors with wheat, so the visitors would have to walk over it, crushing the wheat and unleashing the smell. In order to further emphasize the fact that the exhibition took place in what used to be a factory, I designed and projected shadows that visualized and exposed the processes and actions that were still sensible and tangible.
